What is the Westonka Mountain Bike Team?
The team is a member of the MCA https://minnesotacycling.org/ Some kids on the team race in grade-level MCA races and some just enjoy riding. Our coaches are certified through the MCA and foster the MCA mission of More Kids on Bikes.

No, you do not have to race but you do need to be a competent bike rider, everyone improves over the season.

How do we join the team
How do we join the team
Team registartion has two parts, you register with Westonka Community ed and also MCA registration. All athletes need both registartions even if you are not racing. Race registrations are separate from the the team registration. The team registration will be available in April. Race registartion takes please in the Summer.
Can parents get involved
Can parents get involved
We need parents to be involved, many become coaches in the MCA system - it is easy to do and that allows you to ride at practice. We also have a team tent and potluck at races so there is a need for all families to be involved.Â

The team is made up of 6th through 12th grade students.

Do you have to attend Westonka Schools to be on the team?
No, we have kids from several school districts across the west metro.
Where are practices?
Where are practices?
We ride at single tracks in the metro on weekdays and tend to travel a bit further for variety and fun for weekend practices.
Can you play other sports at the same time?
Can you play other sports at the same time?
Yes, kids do play other sports at the same time without issues.
